Sponges, Foams and Specialist Materials

The following sections contain brief descriptions and data on materials that contain a cellular structure.
There are two main categories, Closed Cell Materials that do not allow dust or moisture to migrate through them and Open Cell which does.

Closed cell materials are used in applications to effect dust or moisture tight seals i.e. door or gland plate cells.
They are usually designed to be compressed from 30% to 50% to achieve an optimum balance between sealing and compression set.

Open cell materials tend to be used in applications where mediums needs to be filtered such as removing dust from air flow in vent panels
or sieving swarf from coolant.

Below are some of the stock grades we use which are available in various forms including Roll/Log, Sheet, Strips and component.
Materials can be supplied with or without Self-Adhesive Backing which itself has various grades including High Temp and flame-retardant.

There are of course a number of more unusual materials we haven't listed including PORON® , PLASTAZOTE® Conductive/Anti-static
and there are also a large number of reticulated foams, details on all are available from our Sales Department.
